America Ferrera & Eva Longoria hilariously mock Hollywood racism

Remember when the Golden Globes confused America Ferrera and Gina Rodriguez? Apparently so do America and Eva:

Now there are calls for them to host the Globes next year. I’m down! They did a better job of mocking Hollywood  than Ricky Gervais.

Congratulations to Taraji P Henson for her Golden Globe win! (And don’t rush her!)

Everyone’s best girlfriend Taraji P Henson finally got her award at the Golden Globes. Taraji took home Best Actress in a Drama for her diva performance as Cookie Lyon. To celebrate she passed out cookies on her way to the stage.

Taraji defeated the Emmy winner, Viola Davis along with Caitriona Balfe (Outlander), Eva Green (Penny Dreadful) and Robin Wright (House of Cards) to take home the statue from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

The Golden Globes were running a bit long so the producers were trying to coax everyone into rushing through their acceptance speeches, but you don’t rush a woman who has been waiting 20 years. Taraji’s inner Cookie made an appearance:

“Please wrap? Wait a minute. I’ve waited 20 years for this. You’re gonna wait. You’re gonna give me a little more time.”

Taraji is only the third black woman to win this award.

Congratulations Taraji!

Long sigh – Golden Globes confuse America Ferrera and Gina Rodriguez

After praising the Golden Globes for putting out a more diverse group of nominees than some other awards I could name, I must now gift the the unfortunate person behind the Official Golden Globes Twitter account with the They All Look Alike award. Whomever this unfortunate, and probably after today unemployed person is, they confused their own presenter America Ferrera with nominee Gina Rodriguez:

Yes, Really. You would think since America was actually reading the list of nominees in the official announcement, they would know who was up there representing them.

They did eventually realize their boo-boo, but probably not in time to save their job. This is getting almost as much press an the actual announcements.

Thank You Golden Globes for Acknowledging “Empire”

After the shameful SAG Awards announced yesterday, the Golden Globes has rubbed some slave in the wound with their nominations. A mainstream award finally acknowledged that Empire is here to stay by giving it a nod. Empire is changing the face of TV, and it past time the industry recognized that.

Empire
Empire

Empire aside, this is a much more diverse group of nominees than the SAG Awards. They are still from perfect, for example there are no WOC nominated in ANY of the movie categories, but they are still huge improvement over the SAGs.

WOC did do very well in the TV Categories. Taraji P Henson and Viola Davis both got nods for Leading Actress in a Drama. Queen Latifah is nominated for Bessie for Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. Gina Rodriguez picked up her second nomination in a row for Lead Actress in a Comedy, the same category she won last year. Uzo Aduba is once again nominated as Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for Orange is the New Black. You will recall she won an Emmy for this role. Regina King is also nominated for the role that won her an Emmy for American Crime. Unfortunately the Golden Globes breaks up their categories differently than the Emmys do, so Uzo and Regina are up against each other this time.
