WGN’s new show Underground, about slaves from a Southern cotton plantation who use the Underground Railroad to run, now has a premiere date and trailers. The date is March 9th and the trailers are below. They show some promise that the focus will be on the black people and not on the white people as too many previous shows that have tackled this topic have done. I don’t see any happy slaves here. The first season will consist of 10 episodes.
The show stars Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton) as Noah, a slave who organizes a group of fellow slaves to escape the plantation. Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Christopher Meloni, and Mykelti Williamson also star.
