They shouldn’t have called Julian Bond’s great-grandmother that in the first place. It’s hard to believe that these are grown, thinking people who make the decisions on what to publish in these publications. What person with two brain cells to rub together would think a slave, who has no choice to say no, could be a mistress with all that word implies? *rubs temples*
I’m tired of these after the fact apologies. If you know people “rightly” complained, why was it okayed to be published in the first place? If people hadn’t of complained, they’d never have acknowledged that it was wrong. Fake ass mf’ers.

These ‘hit jobs’ on black women are commonplace for most of the media these days. The New York Times goes way overboard. That newspaper has published several ‘side-eye’ articles on black women – Majora Carter, Shonda Rimes (with extra shade for Viola Davis), Serena Williams, and others. If Taraji Henson wins the Emmy next month (which could cap off the most amazing year of her career), we should expect such a low-brow piece on her by Spring 2016. Any black woman who achieves any type of distinction should expect such a public assault on their life story, courtesy of the one of the most widely-read newspapers in the world. SMDH

The problem is they are trying to be “politically correct” by down playing the word slave by throwing in mistress. It also dismisses the fact that alot of these “slave mistresses” were little girls when the relationships started. My bad slavery only affected the grown folks not the children.
Its akin to the argument that a pedophile gives the court when he says the 6 months old child seduced him. They just need to take responsibility and own up to the wrongs and stop blaming the victim. But that’s not going to happen because then they have to face the monster in the mirror.
