Empire Gets It’s Season 2 Premiere at Carnegie Hall

As the old joke goes, “How do you get to Carnegie Hall?” “Practice, practice!”

Or you could just be the hottest show on TV and get your second season premiere in a standing room only event at the legendary venue.

The Empire phenomenon kept on keeping on with a star studded red carpet event. You can go here to see all the pictures, but you know we have to show you the Queen of TV, Taraji P Henson in her take on the little black dress:

TPH @ Empire S2 premiere

Yeah, this lady just turned 45. Hello there!

So how was the second season opener received? The guests gave it a standing ovation and the Daily News raved:

“Empire” rules, bigger and badder than ever.

If anyone thought Fox’s breakout hit was over the top last season, the second-season premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 23, has so much murder and intrigue that it makes what’s come before look as tame as C-SPAN.

The event also featured a Q&A panel with the stars, and performances by Jussie Smollet and Bryshere Gray. It wasn’t all fun and games though, Lee Daniels got serious talking about race relations as noted by Variety:

Co-creator Lee Daniels noted that the hugely successful show with a largely black cast has hit at a time of great tension in race relations, following a string of questionable deaths of black men at the hands of police officers. The “Black Lives Matter” movement is reflected forcefully in “Empire’s” season premiere episode, as the Lyon family seeks to stir up public backlash to the jailing of Terrence Howard’s Lucious Lyon for murder.

“Where we are in America with race relations is an ugly place,” Daniels told the packed house of “Empire” devotees. “It’s time we tear the roof off this mother——. It’s time we see that we are all one.”

You couldn’t make it? Sorry you missed it? Watch it below, then head over to the forum to talk about it! We would love to here what you all think.
